In a small town surrounded by forests, Father Thomas leads a seemingly ordinary life until he begins facing events that defy everything he knows about God, death, and human nature itself. Armed with a sword and an old revolver, the priest becomes responsible for confronting creatures that emerge from the shadows: the living dead, ghosts, werewolves, sirens, demons, gargoyles, and other aberrations that seem tied to a much greater threat.

Behind many of these events is a mysterious witch, a powerful scholar of magic who appears and disappears while conducting increasingly dangerous experiments. Thomas initially views her merely as an enemy that must be destroyed, but gradually discovers that her story is far more complex. While facing monsters and supernatural phenomena, Thomas also begins to confront his own concepts of justice. He learns that not every monstrous creature is evil, that not every man can be saved, and that some choices do not possess a truly good solution.

These encounters profoundly transform the priest. He learns about mercy and despair. Even his encounters with supernatural forces become opportunities to question what he believes in.
